It was the perfect perfect weekend. I arrived in Paris on the 12th of October 2012 and I do not kid when I say these past few days have been the sunniest I have seen since I arrived. And im not just talking about a few sunny spells but entire days worth of blue cloudless skies and beautiful sunshine. I finally understand why the English are always talking about the weather! They have every right! Constant grey skies are utterly depressing! I’ve always said Paris is as beautiful as its weather and this past weekend really confirmed this notion.
You can feel that Spring is on the way. It felt like all of Paris was outside this weekend, soaking up the sunshine despite the rather chilly temperatures! We walked a lot going from Notre Dame all the way to Champs–Élysées on foot passing through the Jardin des Tuileries and walking along the River Seine for as long as we could. There was a huge queue for ice-cream at the famous glacier La Maison Berthillon, children played, people cycled or just sat by the river. It was Paris like I hadn’t experienced it since my last summer vacation here many years ago. Absolutely enchanting. And now that I’ve had a taste of sunny Paris I cant wait for Spring or Summer to come! I am dreaming of park picnics, velib cycling and just sitting outside with a book. Luckily this sunny spell has lasted longer than we could have imagined and this breathtaking Parisian blue sky is making it very difficult to focus at work.
Notice the stack of green chairs piled up in one of the pictures below… this photo was taken at the Tuileries Gardens… concrete proof that Spring is almost here. Those chairs are just bursting to be set free for French, expat and touristy behinds to grace them, I personally cant wait to sit my toosh in one of those!
Aaah, Paris je t’aime!
