Hello iPhone 5!

I don’t know how it happened but somehow, sometime in the Fall of 2011 I became a cult Apple follower. Last Thanksgiving in NYC on the eve of Black Friday after months of internal debates as to which laptop I should buy myself, I stood in line…at midnight…in the cold…in a line that looped all the way round the entire block of the famous and stunning 5th Avenue Apple store to buy my very first Macbook Air. With the exception of the iPod, it was my first big Apple purchase. It has turned out to be one of the best purchases I ever made. I can’t stand my work Dell laptop anymore and constantly catch myself making Apple movements on the trackpad only to realize I’m still using a stone age operating system – darn it!

This September 28th, the date of the release of the iPhone 5 in Spain, and after an obsessive wait since its release in the US exactly one week prior, I made a mad rush to a mall located far outside Madrid (read more about my Madrid trip here) in the pouring rain and stood in line for (a long but lower-than-expected) 1h 25mins to make my switch from Blackberry to iPhone. It feels like a momentous occasion and I promise you many beautiful pictures of my Paris adventures from my brand new phone! For now, I have set up a new Instagram account under the same name as the blog: thefakeparisienne. Please follow me if interested!

Until I make it to Paris, here are a few pics of my darling darling Dubai that I will soon bid goodbye… sniff, sniff… T-4 and counting…

Pictures from top to bottom: 1. i heart Dubai from one of my fave local designer t-shirts  2. Palm trees galore  3. My cities awesome signage   4. Stunning architecture and high rises   5. 6-lane highways, here the famous Sheikh Zayed Rd.   6. Arabic calligraphy “i love Dubai” from same t-shirt

  1. I know the exact mall you went to, it’s in Leganes! I went there once too and sat on the bean bags in the Apple store haha. They are building an Apple store in Puerta del Sol in the center of Madrid but I don’t know when it’s opening. If you remember seeing a huge building under scaffolding in Puerta del Sol… that’s the new location!

  2. That’s the one!!! hehe I found it shocking there was no Apple store in Madrid, it’s about time!! Thanks for the info… the trek all the way to Leganes was sooo worth it though, Im in love with my new iPhone 5!!!
