I’m extremely happy and feeling very grateful this week. After a very long wait, my application for a long-stay visa is finally with the French Consulate. It’s just a matter of weeks before I have that oh-so-coveted stamp in my passport!! This week at work has felt like a corporate honeymoon. Easy working pace, short working hours and a lot of ridiculously goofy grins. I have been smiling non-stop all week. It is so liberating being stress-free and as difficult as it’s been to let go of my responsibilities here, the official note that went out last week made it real. I am exhausted. I have been juggling my Dubai and Paris responsibilities simultaneously, havent had a vacation except for 1 week in July and have given this company so much of my life; and so somewhere inside me a lightbulb finally went on and I did the unthinkable..i let go. And it’s been such a thrill!
This week has also been amazing because I suddenly realized that I dont have much time left in Dubai and so I spent almost every day of this week out for dinner at one of the many restaurants I have been wanting to try. Dubai’s dining scene is only getting bigger and trendier and I am loving exploring it! I finally did La Petite Maison with Karen. I fell in love with this place. It is casual, adorable and trendy all at once. So charming and a gastronomic appetizer for all the delicious foods that await me in Paris. I also did Gaucho with one of my favorite people in Dubai. Nadzz, I will miss so many people here but you are at the top of that list! It’s always so fun getting together with you – talking, laughing and knowing you will always always say yes to any proposal I have: concerts, weekends away, holidays, new restaurants, whatever. I will miss you A LOT! : ( You have a sofa bed in your name waiting for you in Paris!
This post will be short because…I AM ON VACATION!!! Yes, it’s true…as I await my visa, I managed to get both bosses in Dubai and Paris to accept a 2 week (much needed) vacation before I head on to my new responsibilities. I feel a sense of freedom I havent in a long time. Going on vacation with no accountability for a job is a luxury and one I plan to indulge fully. I will post more upon my return… I am crossing the pond over to Europe…. cable cars, the Alps, Gaudi and Manchega cheese await me…. ( ;
See you soon!
