After a long 7 week wait, the approval from the Labour Authorities in France has finally come through!!!! The countdown has now officially begun! *cartwheels, summersaults, chicken dance*
This means it’s only a matter of weeks before I have the visa in my hand! I hate to bore you with the unexciting details but I basically now need to wait for my file to be sent to the French Consulate in Dubai after which I can submit an application for a long-term visa. This news was also reassuring because it now means there is no turning back. The French government is opening its arms to welcome me into its heart! And thank God for that because the official announcement about my new role was sent out a few days ago! What relief to know that I can now physically head towards my new job and that I will not be unemployed!
We had a huge meeting with over 90 agency and business partners yesterday and despite my desire and impatience to leave; saying goodbye from a podium on a huge stage facing 100+ people was difficult and emotional. From that moment on, anyone who said anything nice to me made me cry. Yes, I can be quite the emotional mess. Goodbyes are not my strong suit.
The second piece of good news is that I also managed to get both my bosses in Dubai AND in Paris (yes, I have been doing two jobs since my so-called ‘handover’ ahem ahem in July) to say yes to a 2-week vacation! I desperately need some time off to recharge my batteries, spend quality time with my family and take some time to drink all of this in. It’s been an overwhelming past few months.
For now, I am expecting to be in Paris by mid October. My new adventure is just around the corner and I am giddy like a child!!
