Being the eldest of three, and a girl, naturally makes me “daddy’s little girl”.
I’ve discovered that this is a title that never wears off regardless of age or time. It was a superpower that I proudly flaunted through my childhood years and, today, serves as a huge privilege, almost like a badge of honor. It is something he will never admit but that everyone knows. I am the one he cannot say no to. The one who’s sad eyes melt his heart and whose smile opens his soul.
We have always had a special bond. He understands me without words. He is the only person who knows exactly what to say at exactly the right moment. He is by far one of the most selfless and generous people I have ever come across in all my years of living. Everything he does, everything he says, every breath he takes is for the four of us and I have never ever for even a single moment doubted that. He has never made any of us feel as though we were not his number one priority.
He is my idol in life and just like a little girl, a reflection of the man I want to marry: selfless, generous, kind, unconditionally loving and an incredible source of inspiration and strength. I love him beyond words and beyond any form of expression.
For all the words I have never said to you and for every apology I owe you, thank-you dad for all you have done and continue to do for us every day. I wouldn’t be me without your love, your guidance and your faith in me. Happy Fathers Day.
I love you.
