Why thank-you for dropping by…
Perhaps the best place to start reading is the “About Me” section which will shed light on why I’m here and what I plan to write about…
This May, I will have been back in Dubai for exactly 4 years. This seems to have become my running rate in a city over the past 16 years or so. Before this return to Dubai, I was in New York City. Whether or not I will still be here in May is a question yet to be answered but for now I am taking advantage of my sunny (albeit cold these days!) city by the sea until an official confirmation comes my way after which I will be crossing the pond once again to head to another new destination: Paris, France!
I am excited about what awaits me but anxious about what I will leave behind. In homage to my beautiful city of birth and all it has to offer, I am pledging to discover it inside out for what remaining time I will be here. Serendipitously, the cover of last week’s issue of Time Out read: “101 Things to Do While You’re In Dubai” with a bold red box that screamed ‘you cannot leave this city before trying them all!’
You must know dear reader that I am a blind believer in destiny, signs and all that other whimsical stuff. For someone who never buys Time Out to be poached in one of the worlds largest bookstores by an unassuming magazine cover means something; and so dear Dubai, i promise to do my best to cover this list of 101 things before i do depart your 6-lane highways, world-class restaurants and towering skyscrapers for cobbled stones, buttery croissants and a plethora of architectural wonder.
It’s true when they say you take things for granted where you live because I am suddenly consumed by an overwhelming desire to truly experience Dubai like I never have before.
I hope you enjoy my adventures as I bid farewell to the city I call home and dis (say) ‘bonjour’ to one that will become my new temporary home…for as long as my wanderlust bug remains dormant.
